Visa has launched a validator node on the Tempo blockchain, actively participating in transaction verification for real-time stablecoin payments. The company stated the node is operated in-house and was developed over six months in collaboration with Tempo's engineering team. This positions Visa as an "anchor validator" alongside early participants like Stripe and Zodia Custody.

In this role, Visa operates within the transaction validation layer, confirming payments and bolstering network security and performance during the network's initial phase. Tempo is a Layer 1 blockchain specifically designed for rapid payments and stablecoin transactions, where validators confirm transactions and maintain the network's ledger, earning stablecoin rewards.

This move complements Visa's ongoing blockchain initiatives, including its recent commitment as a validator on the Canton Network, focusing on privacy-enhanced onchain payment systems with financial institutions.
