Jan Metzger, Citigroup’s co-head of Asia investment banking, will join Standard Chartered as global head of coverage banking, effective July.
The move marks a high-profile shift in Asia’s investment banking leadership. Metzger led Citi’s operations across Japan, Asia North & Australia, and Asia South for eight years.
He joined Citi from Credit Suisse in 2015, rising to APAC head of corporate and investment banking in 2018. His departure leaves Kaustubh Kulkarni as sole regional head.
Metzger will report to Roberto Hoornweg, CEO of Standard Chartered’s corporate & investment banking division.
