Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing and delivery firm, Grab, announced its first international expansion by acquiring Delivery Hero’s profitable Foodpanda Taiwan business for $600M in cash. The deal, set to close in H2 2026, aims to boost Grab’s EBITDA by $60M in 2028.
Anthony Tan, Grab’s CEO, stated the move aligns with Grab’s broader strategy focusing on AI, new services, and strategic global investments. Foodpanda Taiwan generated $1.8B in GMV in 2025.
Delivery Hero plans to use the proceeds to repay debt. Aspex, a major shareholder, remains concerned about the company’s overall strategic direction despite the positive move.
