The U.S. prediction market platform Kalshi has suspended an employee of the popular YouTuber MrBeast for two years and fined him over $20,000 for insider trading. Artem Kaptur, identified as James Donaldson, allegedly used private production information from the "Beast Games" show to place approximately $4,000 in trades on the outcomes.
Kalshi, regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), identified the violation through its internal monitoring systems. The CFTC has previously warned against market manipulation and fraud, stating that such actions would result in enforcement. This incident underscores growing concerns about insider trading risks within prediction markets. In a separate case, Kalshi banned another user for five years and imposed a significant fine for betting on his own political candidacy.
