Private equity firm KKR and South Korea's SK Inc announced the creation of the nation's largest renewable energy platform, a venture valued at 2 trillion won.
The new entity will integrate renewable energy assets from SK Innovation, SK ecoplant, and SK eternix. The combined portfolio will include solar, onshore and offshore wind, and fuel cell technologies.
The platform launches with approximately 1.7 gigawatts of operational capacity. A development pipeline is expected to bring the total capacity to 10 gigawatts, which the companies state is sufficient to power 100 large-scale data centers.
KKR will hold a 51 percent stake with initial management control, while SK Inc will own 49 percent as an equity investor. The official launch is slated for the end of the year. The venture aims to meet the surging clean-power requirements of the country's expanding AI infrastructure and semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
