Health Canada has issued a recall for several models of smoke alarms, citing concerns that they "may fail to operate." The affected products include the PGST Independent Smoke Detector Sensor Fire Alarm System for Home Office Security Smoke Alarm Fire Protection, model S11D-EN; Photoelectric Smoke Alarm, model PG-S11; and GauTone Independent Smoke Alarm Fire Protection Smokehouse Home Security System Smoke Detector, model GT-441B-1.

These devices were previously sold on platforms like AliExpress. Health Canada's evaluation determined that these products may not meet Canadian Residential Detectors Regulations. Crucially, the alarms lack a Canadian certification mark, raising serious questions about their ability to detect smoke or fire, thereby presenting a potential fire hazard.

Consumers are strongly advised to immediately stop using the affected products and dispose of them according to local hazardous waste guidelines. Health Canada emphasizes that products without recognized certification marks may not meet performance standards and could malfunction, failing to alert residents to fire incidents.
