Allyson Felix, the most decorated female track and field athlete, plans to come out of retirement with the goal of competing at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The seven-time gold medallist, who retired after the Tokyo Games with 11 medals, would be participating in her sixth Olympics if she qualifies.
"Why not? Let's flip it on its head. Let's go after the thing. Let's be vulnerable," Felix stated in an interview, emphasizing her desire to experience competing at a home Games.
Felix, a mother of two and an advocate for women in sports, co-founded the women's footwear company Saysh after a dispute with her former sponsor. She cited athletes like Tom Brady and LeBron James as inspiration for competing into their 40s.
Her potential return is not guaranteed, as Felix must navigate the competitive U.S. track and field qualification system.
