St. Louis Cardinals star Jordan Walker delivered a stunning performance Monday night, defeating hometown favorite Kyle Schwarber with a walk-off home run to win the 2026 Home Run Derby at Citizens Bank Park.
Walker hit 12 home runs in the final round, edging out Schwarber's 11. His decisive blast cleared the left field seats, securing the championship during MLB's All-Star weekend.
The event featured a new format giving contestants 20 swings to hit as many home runs as possible. A final-swing home run earned extra swings until the streak ended.
Walker advanced through the semifinals with a 6-5 victory over Tampa Bay's Junior Caminero. Schwarber, energized by the Philadelphia crowd, had defeated Boston's Willson Contreras 9-8 to reach the finals.
Schwarber set a high bar with 11 home runs in the final round. Walker appeared in trouble when he reached only 10 with one swing remaining, but he connected on a towering shot to force extra swings and then hit the walk-off winner.
Walker currently ranks tied for tenth in MLB this season with 22 home runs, batting .294 with 74 RBIs for St. Louis.
