BUENOS AIRES - Argentina's top-tier soccer league teams are pushing for match postponements next month. The executive committee's request stems from a criminal investigation targeting leaders of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

The proposed suspensions coincide with court dates for AFA President Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia and Treasurer Pablo Toviggino. They are reportedly under investigation for alleged pension contribution withholding and tax evasion.

The AFA has stated it has no outstanding tax debts. The association has faced scrutiny as the World Cup nears, including a December money-laundering probe that led to raids on AFA headquarters and several clubs.
