NHL player Brady Tkachuk has addressed an AI-generated video from the White House that falsely claims he insulted Canadians. The doctored footage, created using a conference clip from last year, makes it appear as though Tkachuk made disparaging remarks about Canada and its citizens following the United States' gold medal victory over their northern neighbors.
Tkachuk, who plays for the Ottawa Senators and was celebrating a gold medal win in Washington D.C., stated emphatically that the video is fake. He told reporters, "It's clearly fake, because it's not my voice, not my lips moving. I'm not in control of any of those accounts. I know that those words would never come out of my mouth." He reiterated that the sentiments expressed in the video are not his own and do not reflect his character.
Tkachuk is set to return to play in Canada, facing the Detroit Red Wings.
