Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that deciding whether to include Neymar in his squad for the 2026 World Cup is weighing heavily on his mind. Despite the Santos forward's legendary status, the Italian tactician is balancing the player's recent fitness struggles against his undeniable talent.

Ancelotti has included Neymar in his 55-man provisional list but will cut it to 26 by May 18. At 34, Neymar remains one of Brazil's greatest talents, but recurring injuries and a disastrous spell at Al Hilal cast doubt. His return to Santos has shown flashes of brilliance, yet questions about his competitive intensity persist.

"When you have to choose, you need to take many things into consideration," Ancelotti explained. "Neymar is an important player... He has had some problems... Obviously, for me it's not an easy decision."

Team harmony is key. Ancelotti noted Neymar's teammates want him in the squad, which influences the coach but won't decide the call-up. "The right person to make this decision... is me," he said.

The final decision rests on tactical demands-intensity and defensive recovery. Ancelotti insists the call will be purely professional, based on current performance. "I was not pressured by anyone... The decision will be 100% professional," he stated.
