Bukayo Saka has rejoined Arsenal's squad for their pivotal Premier League clash against Newcastle United. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the winger's return, signaling a significant boost for the North London club as they vie with Manchester City for the league title.
Saka had been sidelined with an Achilles issue, and his absence coincided with a dip in Arsenal's form, including three losses in their last five matches across competitions. "Bukayo probably is going to be in the squad, so good news," Arteta stated. "He had the right treatment, the right space and had some time for himself too. It's now the most important time of the season and he's back with us."
Defender Riccardo Calafiori also returns, though Jurrien Timber remains unavailable. "Being available is not enough. Being available in your best level is what we need at this stage of the season," Arteta noted.
The title race remains exceptionally tight, with both Arsenal and Manchester City tied on 70 points. City currently leads on goal difference and has scored more goals.
Despite losing top spot temporarily, Arteta expressed confidence in his team's psychological resilience. "For me, no. Before, the psychological effect was being chased. For many months," he said. "What is better, what is worse? Win the next game. The psychological effect is tough no matter where you are."
With five games remaining and a Champions League semi-final on the horizon, Arteta remains optimistic: "Win tomorrow. Game one, win, and we will be that much closer. I have belief in our players... It's five games to go, four weeks. Two big competitions to play for and everything to play for."
