Two-time defending French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz will not defend his title due to a right wrist injury. Alcaraz announced his withdrawal from both the French Open and the preceding Italian Open in Rome on X.

Alcaraz, currently ranked world No. 2, sustained the injury during his first-round match at the Barcelona Open this month. He subsequently withdrew from the Madrid Open and was seen wearing a wrist support at the Laureus World Sports Awards. After further medical tests, Alcaraz confirmed his decision to withdraw from Paris, citing the need for caution.

"It's a complicated moment for me, but I'm sure we'll come out stronger from here," Alcaraz stated in his post.

Despite a strong start to the year, including a victory at the Australian Open, Alcaraz has faced recent setbacks, losing finals in Monte Carlo and Doha. The Italian Open begins May 6, with the French Open commencing May 18.
