Alexander Zverev is finally a Grand Slam champion. On Sunday, the German defeated Italy's Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 to win the French Open title.

"We've been losers at some moments, but we're Grand Slam champions now," Zverev told his team during the trophy ceremony, reflecting on a career marked by injuries and near-misses.

Four years after leaving Roland Garros in a wheelchair with a broken foot, and two years after losing the final to Carlos Alcaraz, the 29-year-old finally claimed the Musketeers Cup.

Zverev praised his longtime team, including his father and coach, and his brother Mischa. "I probably have the longest-lasting team and coach on the tour," he joked.

Cobolli, in his first Grand Slam final, thanked his supporters and congratulated Zverev. "I'm happy for you but I'm also sad because I was close," he said. "Let me win next time."
