As Walton sprinted towards first base, Hammond shoved him down after making the tag. Walton confronted Hammond face-to-face, sparking both benches to spill onto the field. Both players were ejected.

Central Michigan secured the 6-5 victory in the 11th inning, with Harrison Bowman delivering an RBI single. The Chippewas won the Mid-American Conference series, improving their overall record to 9-11 and 3-6 in conference games. Toledo fell to 10-11 and 6-3 in conference play.
