Chelsea has completed the largest transfer in club history, signing midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for £117 million. The fee, a flat payment with no add-ons, surpasses the £107 million paid for Enzo Fernandez in 2023.

The 23-year-old England international has agreed to a six-year contract with an option for a seventh, tying him to Stamford Bridge potentially through 2033. The deal was finalized after Rogers completed his medical in London.

Coach Xabi Alonso was reportedly directly involved in the negotiations, highlighting Rogers' importance to the club's new tactical blueprint. Arsenal was also interested but was outbid.

Chelsea's spending spree is far from over. The club plans at least two more key signings this summer, pushing the potential total outlay to over a quarter of a billion pounds.
