Chelsea has completed the signing of midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a British-record fee of £117 million. The verbal agreement was reached on July 18, following England's semi-final exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 55 appearances for Aston Villa last season. Arsenal had reportedly already agreed personal terms with the player, but Chelsea's offer of a guaranteed £117 million fee secured the transfer.

Rogers is expected to sign a six-year contract with Chelsea under manager Xabi Alonso. Aston Villa originally purchased Rogers for £8 million in February 2024, representing a significant return on their investment.

Born in Halesowen, England, Rogers has risen from a lower-league prospect to a record-breaking transfer target before his 24th birthday. The deal sets a new valuation benchmark for top English talent.
