Kirk Cousins, the new Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, revealed that a FaceTime call with Tom Brady, a minority owner of the team, significantly influenced his free agency decision.
Cousins stated he stepped away from a youth baseball practice to take the call, seeking to understand Brady's vision for the organization and his potential fit. He described the conversation as "life-giving" and a "big nudge" to join the Raiders.
Cousins added that Brady has been a supportive resource throughout the process, emphasizing the value of having a seven-time Super Bowl champion embedded in the organization. Brady was present on the first day of OTAs and is available via phone or text.

Cousins also brings familiarity with new Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak, having previously worked with him on the Minnesota Vikings. The Raiders' strategy may involve developing a young quarterback, potentially Fernando Mendoza, under Cousins' guidance.
Last season, Cousins completed 61.7% of his passes for 1,721 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions in 10 games for the Atlanta Falcons, leading the team to a 5-3 record in his starts.
