The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 in overtime at the Bell Centre on Friday night, tying the Eastern Conference Final at three games apiece and forcing a Game 7.
The only goal of the game came midway through the first overtime period. A pick play by the Lightning freed Gage Goncalves for the game-winner, keeping Tampa Bay alive.
Montreal outshot and outplayed the Lightning for much of regulation, but Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was stellar, turning aside every Canadiens chance. Montreal hit the post multiple times, including a shot from Cole Caufield. The Canadiens recorded an expected goals total of 3.38 but could not solve Vasilevskiy.
Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes matched Vasilevskiy save for save through 60 minutes, but couldn't stop Goncalves in overtime.
Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday night in Tampa Bay.
