Detroit Red Wings captain and hometown native Dylan Larkin has reportedly requested a trade, citing the team's continued playoff drought and a fractured relationship with general manager Steve Yzerman.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the 29-year-old center made the request known to the organization. Neither Larkin, his agent, nor Yzerman have commented on the report.
Larkin was selected by Detroit with the 15th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He has since recorded 643 points in 808 games. He carries an $8.7 million cap hit and is under contract through 2031.
He also earned a gold medal with Team USA at the 2026 Olympics. Larkin holds a full no-trade clause for the next two seasons, giving him control over any potential deal.
