Everton marked the 37th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster by unveiling a permanent tribute at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium to the 97 fans who died in the 1989 tragedy.
The disaster occurred when fans were crushed in an overcrowded enclosure at Sheffield during an FA Cup semi-final. It remains one of the world's worst stadium disasters.
The new memorial features two young mascots, one in an Everton shirt and the other in Liverpool red, symbolizing unity beyond the clubs' rivalry.
Everton welcomed representatives from the Hillsborough families and Liverpool Football Club to the stadium for the ceremony. Liverpool legends Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush laid floral tributes.
