FIFA has reversed its policy on reusable water bottles at the 2026 World Cup, banning them from all stadiums just weeks after allowing them.
Spectators must now purchase bottled water inside venues. FIFA cited safety, saying bottles pose a risk to players and attendees. The policy applies across all 16 North American host venues, including Toronto and Vancouver.
FIFA says it's coordinating heat safety plans with local officials, including misting stations, cooling tents, and hydration stations. Water prices will match standard venue pricing. BMO Field and BC Place have water fountains, but fans cannot refill personal bottles.
