Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior confirmed that midfielder Enzo Fernandez has apologized for recent comments regarding his future and has been dropped for two matches. However, Fernandez will not be available for Sunday's Premier League match against Manchester City.
Fernandez, who has captained the team in the absence of Reece James, had expressed a desire to explore his options and potentially move to Madrid after the World Cup. Rosenior stated that he had "really good conversations" with Fernandez, who has now apologized to him and the club. While the manager believes people make mistakes, he indicated that there are "a few hurdles to be overcome" before Fernandez can be a "massive part of the group moving forward."
Chelsea currently sits sixth in the Premier League table. Rosenior emphasized the team's focus on qualifying for the Champions League during the challenging run-in. He also provided updates on injured players, noting that Levi Colwill is back in full training after a knee injury and Reece James is running following a hamstring issue. Trevoh Chalobah is also back on the pitch and working hard.
