FIFA's independent Ethics Committee has banned former Guyana Football Federation General Secretary Ian Alves from all soccer-related activities for five years after determining he sexually harassed female staff members.
The governing body also fined Alves 20,000 Swiss francs, or about $22,000, for violating the FIFA Code of Ethics regarding physical and mental integrity, abuse of position, and general duties.
"FIFA has a strict stance against all forms of abuse in football," the organization said.
The ruling followed a review of victim statements, documents from the Guyana Football Federation, submissions from Alves, and other evidence gathered during the investigation.
Alves stepped down from his post in 2024. The ban took effect when the decision was notified to him Monday. FIFA will release the full grounds for the ruling within 60 days.
The Guyana Football Federation did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and Alves could not be reached.
