Fenerbahçe has submitted a €35 million bid plus €5 million in add-ons for Olympique Marseille forward Mason Greenwood, but two obstacles stand in the way: the player’s salary demands and Marseille’s valuation.

Marseille values the English striker at €50 million to €55 million, while Fenerbahçe is unwilling to meet Greenwood’s current gross wages of €5.45 million. The Turkish club has offered around €5 million net but insists he take a pay cut.

AS Roma has agreed to personal terms with Greenwood at €4 million net annually, but still must negotiate a fee with Marseille. Manchester United holds a 50% sell-on clause on profits above the original £26.6 million fee, giving the French club every incentive to maximize the price.

A complicating factor is Fenerbahçe’s upcoming presidential election, with candidate Hakan Safi claiming a personal agreement has been reached, contingent on his victory.
