Projected top NFL Draft pick Fernando Mendoza revealed he will not attend the NFL Draft ceremony. Mendoza explained his decision stems from a desire to celebrate with family, particularly his mother, Elsa, who has lived with multiple sclerosis for over 15 years and uses a wheelchair.

"My mom really wanted to do it at home, and so did my parents," Mendoza stated, adding that celebrating at home is easier given his family situation. He also emphasized wanting to share the moment with everyone who contributed to his football journey, not just a select few.

Mendoza, who led Indiana to an undefeated national championship, is projected as the No. 1 overall selection. Last season, he completed 72% of his passes for 3,535 yards, with 41 touchdowns and six interceptions. Despite his accolades, his Week 1 start with a potential team like the Las Vegas Raiders is not guaranteed, given their signing of veteran Kirk Cousins.

He plans to have cameras at home to capture his reaction if selected by the Raiders with the top pick, stating he wants to "start off this journey with everyone who has got me to this point."
