Gretchen Walsh has done it again. The American world champion broke her own 100m butterfly world record for the third time in a year, clocking 54.33 seconds at a meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Walsh, 23, first made history last year when she became the first woman to swim under 55 seconds. She now owns the 13 fastest times in the event's history.

"Must be magic or something out here," Walsh posted on Instagram. "Let's make this an annual thing, shall we?"

At the Paris Olympics, Walsh narrowly missed gold in the 100m butterfly, finishing behind American teammate Torri Huske. But her latest mark puts her over a full second ahead of Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom, whose 55.48 from the 2016 Olympics remains the second-fastest time ever.
