Earlier this month, five members of the Iranian women's soccer team were granted asylum in Australia after a U.S.-Israel military campaign targeted Iran. However, most of the team later withdrew their asylum requests and returned to Iran, according to unconfirmed reports.
Video showed the team arriving in Iran after a flight from Turkey. Two players, Fatemeh Pasandideh and Atefeh Ramezanisadeh, remained in Australia, where they train with the Brisbane Roar.
The team had traveled to Australia for a tournament just before the conflict began. Some players faced pressure to stay in the country due to safety concerns. Iranian officials denied claims that the women would be unsafe upon returning home.
