Two-time Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons has announced his retirement from the NFL after a nine-year career. The Denver Broncos made the announcement Wednesday, exactly 10 years after drafting the Boston College standout in the third round of the 2016 draft.

Simmons spent eight of his nine seasons in Denver, earning both of his Pro Bowl selections and four second-team All-Pro honors with the team. He also spent his final season with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, starting 16 games and recording two interceptions.

"Being a Denver Bronco was more than just a team," Simmons said in the team’s announcement. "It was my heart, my home and my story."

Simmons finished his career with 32 interceptions, including an NFL-leading six in 2022. He started 124 of 134 career games.
