Kimi Antonelli, 19, won the Chinese Grand Prix-his first Formula 1 victory-and became the second-youngest race winner in history. The Italian driver held off George Russell and both Ferraris to secure the win for Mercedes.

Mercedes achieved a 1-2 finish: Russell placed second after a multi-lap battle with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, who finished third-their first podium for Ferrari since joining the team in 2025.

Antonelli’s win validates Toto Wolff’s decision to promote him from the junior program, where he’d been since age 11, to replace Hamilton mid-season in 2024. Max Verstappen remains the youngest winner-18 in 2016.

McLaren suffered a double DNS: Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both failed to start due to separate electrical failures in their power units. Only 18 of 22 cars began the race.
