Kenyan athlete John Korir has won the Boston Marathon for the second consecutive year, setting a new course record with a time of two hours, one minute, and 52 seconds. This victory marks a significant achievement in the world's oldest marathon.
Korir took control of the men's race at the 20-mile mark, overtaking Ethiopia's Milkesha Mengesha. He maintained a solo lead for the final six miles, surpassing the previous record of 2:03:02 set in 2011 by compatriot Geoffrey Mutai.
In the women's division, defending champion Sharon Lokedi of Kenya also secured a win, finishing in two hours, 18 minutes, and 51 seconds. The event saw a chilly start with temperatures around 45 degrees Fahrenheit, aided by a slight tailwind.
