Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend Lavonte David, 36, announced his retirement on Tuesday. David, who spent 14 seasons with the Buccaneers, was the team’s longest-tenured player and a key member of their Super Bowl-winning team. He led the league in solo tackles (1,171) since 2012 and is one of three players with 40+ sacks and 35+ takeaways in his career.
David reflected on his career, calling it a journey fueled by the fun and love of the game. He also got emotional remembering his late parents and the sacrifices they made for him.
David tied Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks’ franchise tackle record of 1,714 in his final regular-season game and has played the third-most games in Buccaneers history.
