Landon DuPont delivered a dominant performance for the Everett Silvertips on Friday, scoring twice-including the game-winner-to lead his team to a 6-1 victory over the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in the Memorial Cup semifinal.
DuPont, the first defenceman ever granted exceptional status in the WHL, missed Wednesday's game with an undisclosed injury. He celebrated his 17th birthday Thursday before returning to the lineup. His goals restored Everett's lead in the first period and added insurance on a second-period power play.
The Silvertips now face the OHL champion Kitchener Rangers in Sunday's final. The WHL has not won the Memorial Cup since 2014.
DuPont is projected as the top prospect for the 2027 NHL Draft.
