Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc posted the fastest lap in Friday's practice session for the Miami Grand Prix, clocking 1:29.310 at the Hard Rock Stadium track.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen was second, 0.297 seconds behind, followed by defending winner Oscar Piastri of McLaren. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton took fourth, while Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli rounded out the top five despite power unit issues.

Friday's practice was extended to 90 minutes to compensate for a lengthy break after races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were canceled due to the Iran conflict. Qualifying for the points-paying sprint race is scheduled for later today.

George Russell placed sixth for Mercedes, with McLaren's Lando Norris seventh. French drivers Pierre Gasly and Isack Hadjar were eighth and ninth, while Carlos Sainz completed the top ten for Williams.
