Departing Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed his deepest regret from his ten-year tenure: the decision to let goalkeeper Joe Hart leave.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Guardiola admitted he never gave the English international a fair opportunity to stay after taking over in 2016.
"There is one regret that I have deep inside for many years, that I didn't give a chance to Joe Hart to be with me to prove himself how good a keeper he was," Guardiola said.
Hart was sent on loan to Torino and West Ham United before permanently joining Burnley in 2018. In total, he made 348 appearances for City over 12 years and later played for Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic before retiring.
Guardiola, 55, led City to six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and the Club World Cup. He will leave after Sunday's final match against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.
