LONDON, March 14 - Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Everton, thanks to a historic goal by 16-year-old Max Dowman.

Dowman became the league’s youngest ever scorer at 16 years and 73 days, capitalizing on a defensive error as Everton’s keeper Jordan Pickford pushed high up the field. The youngster raced half the pitch to finish from close range.

Arsenal moved to 70 points from 31 games, while Manchester City remain on 60 from 29, two games behind. City could narrow the gap to seven points with a win over West Ham.

Newcastle United beat Chelsea 1-0, with Anthony Gordon scoring early in the first half. Brighton & Hove Albion won at Sunderland for the first time in 45 years, thanks to Yankuba Minteh’s 58th-minute strike from a cleared corner.

Bournemouth drew 0-0 with Burnley, remaining 10th. Both teams are locked in tight battles for position as the season reaches its climax.
