Spanish football star Lamine Yamal's Barcelona home was the target of an attempted burglary early Wednesday morning. The break-in occurred just after Spain's World Cup semi-final victory over France in Texas.
Yamal's private security team thwarted the attempt. Guards on CCTV spotted two hooded individuals scaling the property's perimeter wall. Both suspects fled upon realizing they were observed, before the Catalan Mossos d'Esquadra police arrived. Authorities are analyzing surveillance footage to identify them.
The incident highlights a pattern of burglaries targeting European footballers for high-value jewelry and watches. Yamal's mansion, formerly owned by Gerard Piqué and Shakira, gained renewed public attention after the player showcased it on social media before the tournament.
