Connor McDavid has set a new record for the most points in a single Olympic tournament featuring NHL players. He registered his 12th point during the Milan Cortina Games, contributing to a goal in the semifinal against Finland.
McDavid, captaining Team Canada in Sidney Crosby's absence, recorded two goals and 10 assists by his fifth game. He finished the semifinal with 13 points, including an assist on the game-winning goal, as Canada advanced to the gold medal game with a 3-2 victory.
This record surpasses the previous mark of 11 points set by Finnish players Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu in 2006. McDavid, a generational talent and five-time NHL scoring champion, is making his Olympic debut after the NHL's hiatus from the Games.
Canada aims for its fourth Olympic hockey gold medal with NHL participation.
