Las Vegas - UFC President Dana White confirmed Saturday night that former two-weight champion Conor McGregor will return to the octagon on July 11 at UFC 329 in Las Vegas. The 37-year-old Irishman will face Hawaiian Max Holloway in the main event at the T-Mobile Arena, competing at lightweight-slash-welterweight.
McGregor has not fought since July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier. The fight comes five years and one day after that injury. McGregor became the first fighter to hold two UFC belts simultaneously after winning the featherweight title in 2015 and the lightweight crown in 2016. His boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in 2017 earned him tens of millions, but he has lost three of his four MMA fights since 2016.
Originally slated to fight Michael Chandler in June 2024, that bout was canceled due to a broken toe. In late 2024, an Irish civil jury found him liable for rape. In October 2025, he accepted an 18-month doping violation ban, which expired in March.
