Nathan MacKinnon scored the shootout winner as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 on Monday. Sam Malinski scored in regulation for the Avalanche.

The Avalanche, league-leaders, have won three of their last four games and seven consecutive road games. They were missing key players including Nazem Kadri, Cale Makar, and Josh Manson due to injuries.

Connor McDavid scored the lone goal for the Oilers, who have lost four of their last five contests. Forwards Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman remained sidelined but have resumed skating.

Scott Wedgewood earned the win with 30 saves for Colorado, while Connor Ingram stopped 30 shots for Edmonton.

McDavid leads the league with 134 points this season. Colorado forward Brock Nelson played in his 1000th career game.
