McLaren's Oscar Piastri will not compete in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix after crashing on a reconnaissance lap prior to the race at Albert Park.

Piastri reportedly locked up hitting the turn four kerb, resulting in a skid and impact with a barrier. The incident caused damage to his car's front wheel, wing, and nose.

Piastri, who finished third in the championship last season, confirmed he was uninjured via team radio and exited the vehicle. McLaren team principal Zak Brown stated the team's focus is now on the remaining car, driven by Lando Norris.

Piastri was scheduled to start the race from fifth on the grid.
