Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, ending a transformative era for the club.
The Egyptian forward, 33, confirmed his exit in an emotional social media message, calling Liverpool "not just a football club, it's a passion, it's a history, it's a spirit."
Signed from AS Roma in 2017, Salah scored 255 goals in 435 appearances-making him Liverpool’s third-highest all-time scorer-and delivered two Premier League titles, a Champions League, and multiple domestic and international trophies.
Last season, he set a Premier League record with 47 goal involvements (29 goals, 18 assists), becoming the first player to win the Player of the Season, Golden Boot, and Playmaker Award in one campaign.
This season, however, has been turbulent. Salah struggled for form, was benched for key Champions League matches, and publicly clashed with manager Arne Slot in December, accusing the club of "throwing me under the bus."
A recent resurgence included a stunning goal in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray-his 50th in Champions League history.
"Leaving is never easy," Salah said. "This club will always be my home to me and to my family. Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone."
