MANCHESTER, May 17 - Bruno Fernandes equaled the Premier League record for most assists in a single season, setting up Bryan Mbeumo for Manchester United's third goal in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Fernandes now shares the mark of 20 assists with Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. He can break the record in United's final match at Brighton next weekend.

Luke Shaw opened the scoring in the fifth minute, his first league goal in over three years. Forest's Morato equalized in the 53rd minute, but Matheus Cunha restored the lead two minutes later after a VAR check. Mbeumo then made it 3-1 before Morgan Gibbs-White pulled one back for the visitors.

Interim manager Michael Carrick addressed the crowd after the match, praising the team's transformation since he replaced Ruben Amorim in January.

The win confirmed United will finish third, securing Champions League football next season.

In the race for European places, Brighton dropped points in a 1-0 loss at Leeds, Everton fell 3-1 to Sunderland, and Brentford drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace. Sunderland's win boosted them to ninth, keeping their Conference League hopes alive.

Elsewhere, Arsenal can take a step closer to their first league title in 22 years when they host Burnley on Monday.
