LEVERKUSEN, Germany - Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich played nearly half the match with 10 men and finished with nine, yet managed to rescue a 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
The setback came just days after their 6-1 Champions League victory over Atalanta. Nicolas Jackson was dismissed just before halftime for a foul, leaving Bayern a man down. They fell behind in the sixth minute to an Aleix Garcia goal.
Despite relentless pressure from Leverkusen, Bayern equalized in the 69th minute through Luis Diaz. Their effort was further complicated when Diaz received a second yellow card in the 84th minute for simulation.
Bayern had two goals ruled out by VAR, while Leverkusen had one disallowed. The draw leaves Bayern on 67 points; Borussia Dortmund closed the gap to nine with a win of their own.
