Cadillac's first Formula One car, designated MAC-26, will honor U.S. racing icon and 1978 World Champion Mario Andretti. The General Motors-backed team, set to join the grid on March 8, revealed the tribute on Friday.
Mario Andretti, who celebrates his 86th birthday, played a crucial role in securing the team's entry. The MAC-26 name signifies "Mario Andretti Cadillac." Team CEO Dan Towriss stated that the naming reflects Andretti's spirit and the ambition for an American team in Formula One.
The team's driver lineup features experienced racers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas.
