The No. 4 Nebraska Cornhuskers secured their first-ever NCAA Tournament win, defeating the No. 13 Troy Trojans 76-47 in the 2026 first round at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center.

Nebraska had appeared in the tournament nine times since 1986 but never advanced-until now.

Pryce Sandfort fueled the breakthrough, scoring 23 points-including five three-pointers in the first half. With a commanding lead, head coach Fred Hoiberg rested starters early in the second half.

Troy struggled offensively, shooting just 28% from the field and 8-of-28 from beyond the arc.

Jamarques Lawrence and Braden Frager each added 13 points off efficient shooting. The Cornhuskers finished the regular season 27-6 but lost to Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, likely costing them a higher seed.

Nebraska now advances to face Vanderbilt in the second round.
