Michael Phelps now has company. For years, the iconic swimmer stood alone as the only Olympian to achieve double-digit gold medals. That changed Wednesday when Norway's Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo secured his 10th gold in cross-country skiing at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

Klaebo, 29, won the men's team sprint with Einar Hedegart for his fifth gold of the 2026 Games. He has been dominant, winning every race he entered at these Games and setting a Winter Olympics record in the 4x7.5-kilometer relay. Klaebo's international career boasts 15 world championship titles and 25 gold medals out of 30 international competition medals.

Phelps amassed 23 gold medals across four Olympics. Klaebo is now the sole Winter Olympian with 10 gold medals; the next closest athletes each have eight.

Klaebo will aim for a perfect six-for-six at these Games in Saturday's 50-kilometer mass start. A victory would place him alongside swimmers Phelps and Mark Spitz, and gymnast Vitaly Scherbo with at least six golds in a single Olympic event.
