March 30: A Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) survey shows over 75% of Premier League fans do not support the continued use of Video Assistant Referees (VAR). The online survey, conducted between February 26 and March 23, gathered responses from nearly 8,000 fans.

91.7% of respondents said VAR had removed the spontaneous joy of goal celebrations. FSA’s Thomas Concannon stated the results align with a 2021 survey showing fan concerns about VAR.

The FSA has shared the findings with the Premier League and match officials body PGMO. Despite criticism, Premier League teams voted to keep VAR in June 2024, acknowledging the need for improvements.
