Sidney Crosby has made it clear he is not retiring from the NHL anytime soon. Playing for Team Canada at the IIHF World Championship in Switzerland, the Penguins captain dismissed speculation that the upcoming season would be his last. When asked about playing another five years, Crosby laughed, "That would be nice." He stated he takes his contract year by year to provide flexibility for the team’s cap situation, but has no plans to step away.
Crosby tallied 74 points in just 68 games this season, extending his point-per-game streak to 21 seasons. Entering the final year of his contract, he will discuss a new deal with GM Kyle Dubas later this summer.
