Athletes at the Milano Cortina Games consumed approximately one ton of Grana Padano cheese and 1,800 meters of pizza during the 16-day competition. Officials reported daily intakes of about 60 kilograms of cheese, 365 kilograms of pasta, and 10,000 eggs. Daily meal preparation reached up to 4,500 servings in Milan and nearly 4,000 in Cortina.
Organizers noted the high quality of food was universally praised. Ticket sales reached 88 percent of total capacity, with 63 percent of spectators traveling from abroad. Popular events included the newly introduced skimo, speed skating, and figure skating.
The Olympic cauldrons in Milan and Cortina, significant symbols of the Games, hosted around 300,000 viewers for light and music shows. These cauldrons will undergo updates before lighting up for the Paralympic Games.
